This week, we're spotlighting our Toronto Chapter as we lead into the 2025 Youth & Officer Award Winners celebration! Toronto is where ProAction Cops & Kids began. Since 1991, our Toronto Chapter has grown alongside the city, funding programs that connect Toronto Police officers with young people through skill-building and mentorship. In 2025 alone, our Toronto Chapter supported 80 programs across the city, reaching thousands of youth. That's a Wrap - Filmmaking Workshop brought Toronto youth together with police officers and film industry professionals to create a Youth Anti-Violence PSA. Led by PC Curtis Celestine, this program gave young people hands-on experience in film production while introducing them to potential career paths in the industry. From concept to creation, participants built real skills and worked alongside professionals who could shape their future. Thanks to everyone who made this program a success! DRPS/ProAction Learn to Golf 2025 is one of the many examples of the skill-building and mentorship youth programs we fund through our generous supporters. ProAction Learn to Golf was led by East Division’s Community Response Unit. The program gave 12 youth in the Durham Region the opportunity to learn the basics of golf while being coached by Golf Professional Mark Gibson and several DRPS officers at Kedron Dells Golf Club. Yee-haw! Cowboy Up 2026 is back. 🤠 Students from D'Arcy McGee Catholic School and St. Thomas Aquinas are saddling up for a week of horseback riding, learning animal care, swimming, sports, and arts & crafts. Officers showed them how to build campfires and cook their own meals under the open sky. Programs like this happen because of amazing supporters like you. Did you know? ProAction Cops & Kids, a charitable organization, was established in Toronto in 1991 by business leader John Bitove Sr. He wanted to create an organization that would enable police officers to make a positive, impactful connection with young people. To achieve this, ProAction supports community-based programs developed and delivered by police officers that specifically engage young people. The "ProAction Cops & Kids Tennis Program"—in our Toronto chapter—is just one of many examples of the work we do. The 3rd annual Cops & Kids Basketball Tournament took over Eastview Community Centre last weekend! Four teams came out for a full day of basketball, lunch, prizes, and community spirit. The ProAction funded TPS 55 Division tournament has become a tradition that brings young players together to compete, connect, and have fun on the court. Congratulations to the 2026 champions from Jimmy Simpson Community Centre!
