The Karate For Kids program, season 2, is underway in Toronto's 42 Division! Youth are learning discipline, building teamwork, and making new friends while developing valuable martial arts skills. Over the past 6 weeks, 10 young women completed the RISE program in our Halton chapter. Resilience Inspired Strength Empowered. Led by @haltonpolice officers with the help of ProAction's supporters, RISE helps participants build personal growth and develop inner strength. Watching these young women grow over six weeks shows exactly why programs like this are so important. Congratulations to everyone who completed RISE. Sometimes, what a young person needs most is someone to listen and help them move forward. "I had an in-depth conversation with a young kid about the father's decision to abandon the youth at the age of twelve; this has been a significant contributing factor to the behavior displayed. Through the program ProAction supported, we were able to formulate a short-term plan that incorporated school, positive choices, and counseling. The youth was excited to be included and was happy to have someone to talk to." – ProAction Officer. ProAction skill-building and mentorship programs create space for these connections.
