Meet Aaden, our 2025 Halton Youth Award winner! With a strong passion for cars and a desire to launch his career, the Steering in the Right Direction G1 program was an ideal fit for Aaden. He approached each session with enthusiasm and respect, gaining essential road safety knowledge from HRPS officers and hearing impactful firsthand accounts from those affected by stunt and impaired driving. Over the past year, Aaden has completed his high school diploma, secured full-time employment, and, most importantly, earned his driver's license, setting him firmly on the path to a successful future. SWAMPY (@swampyproactionhamilton) kicked off 2026 with an orientation day at the YMCA pool, where youth practiced canoe recovery skills ahead of their upcoming Algonquin trip. Thanks to the YMCA for hosting. SWAMPY (Streets to Wilderness Algonquin Mentoring Program for Youth) has connected Hamilton police officers and youth since 2008. Over the next few weeks, we're sharing more about this program and the impact it has on the youth who take part. The 2025 Most Innovative Police-Youth Program Award goes to Cst Cedrik Brisebois in our Halton chapter! After recognizing the need to support young drivers and increase awareness around road safety, Cst Cedrik Brisebois created the Steering in the Right Direction G1 Program. Founded on the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. The program offered youth a unique chance to learn the skills required to obtain their G1 driver's license. In doing so, it helped participants take an important step toward independence, responsibility, and future success. Congratulations, Cst Brisebois! Halton Regional Police held the first week of the Youth Gloves and Goals boxing program. This skill-building and mentorship initiative offers young people the opportunity to engage in fitness activities while working on improving their technique, teamwork, accountability, and self-esteem. The 2025 Most Remarkable Level of Commitment Award goes to Cst Kaleb Simms in our Halton chapter! Cst Kaleb Simms invested significant time and energy into creating and facilitating the Game Changers Youth Basketball Program, going far beyond the call of duty to ensure it was inclusive and barrier-free for all participants. He met each youth at their individual skill level, adapting activities to highlight their strengths and build confidence both on and off the court.
