The 3rd annual Cops & Kids Basketball Tournament took over Eastview Community Centre last weekend! Four teams came out for a full day of basketball, lunch, prizes, and community spirit. The ProAction funded TPS 55 Division tournament has become a tradition that brings young players together to compete, connect, and have fun on the court. Congratulations to the 2026 champions from Jimmy Simpson Community Centre! Thank you to TPS 55 Division officers, Eastview Community Centre, BGC Eastview, Eastview Neighbourhood Community Centre, and Daily Seafood for making this event possible. Read below for details. _______ DRPS is pleased to share an upcoming opportunity for youth through @COPSandKIDSca – the Drive Smart Youth Workshop, an interactive road‑safety program designed for young and new drivers. The Drive Smart Youth Workshop will focus on building awareness, responsibility, and smart decision‑making behind the wheel. Led by DRPS and @WhitbyFire, the two-day session will address real‑life driving risks and the potential impacts of being distracted while driving. Key topics include: - Distracted driving and in‑vehicle technology - Impaired driving (alcohol, drugs, cannabis) - Speeding and aggressive driving - Seat belt use and driver responsibilities - Legal consequences and real‑world outcomes of risky driving choices This workshop is especially beneficial for: - Youth who are new drivers or preparing to drive - Youth in graduated licensing stages - Youth who may benefit from increased awareness around road safety and decision‑making We encourage you to share this invitation with youth you feel would benefit from this learning opportunity. Our goal is to support safer driving behaviours, reduce preventable collisions, and reinforce the importance of responsible choices on and off the road. ✨️ ProAction Program Feature ✨️ Project Arrowhead is a ProAction-funded program with the goal of providing youth with a unique opportunity to empower themselves by building confidence through sport, learning life skills, and developing positive relationships with their communities and the police. Youth take part in a weekly session with TPS 41 Division members that includes both an educational and a fitness component, including basketball, boxing, and weightlifting. Thank you to everyone who showed up to share their knowledge with the next generation. 🌟 ProAction Program Feature 🌟 Horsin' Around 2026 brought 10 youth from St. Brigid Catholic School together for a hands-on experience with horses! Participants learned about horse care, practiced handling, and even went for rides; building confidence, teamwork, and memories along the way. From exciting activities to making new memories, it was a fantastic day all around.
