The 2025 Most Innovative Police-Youth Program Award goes to Sgt Jason Tadeson in our Hamilton chapter! Recognizing the need for a space where Indigenous youth could reconnect with their roots, Sgt Tadeson created the National Reconciliation Tree Planting and Ceremony program. Working alongside more than 50 youth, officers planted 1,500 trees that will grow into a legacy forest in Hamilton's Greenbelt along the Pritchard Trail. This program honoured cultural practices while creating space for genuine connection, learning, and shared experience. Congratulations, Sgt Tadeson! Youth in Halton got a front-row seat to marine policing this summer! The @haltonpolice Marine Unit took young people out on Lake Ontario, showing them what it's like to patrol the water, teaching them the technology behind their vessels, and even squeezing in a swim to beat the heat. ProAction funded police-led programs create skill-building and mentorship experiences, hands-on learning, and connections between officers and youth that build lasting trust. Meet Abigail, our 2025 Durham Youth Award winner! Through the Lunch with a Liaison program, Abigail stepped into a leadership role - mentoring her peers and offering ongoing encouragement. She's grown into a more confident, responsible young leader who now engages openly with peers and officers in her community. Most recently, she accomplished her goal of joining the Durham Regional Police YIPI program - a testament to her determination and commitment to personal growth.
